math

I have always hated math. I am relatively good at it but I just don't like it. Math always frustrates me, the concepts are hard to grasp and confusing. I never seem to be able to understand things! I also have a terrible memory for anything relating to math, I can not remember formulas and stuff. I always get them mixed up! This year I am, once again, struggling through math. I kind of understand things but the a new concept is introduced and I suddenly have no idea what I am doing. I really just don't understand how I am going to use all these concepts in every day life!

Sorry, this is really boring! I'll choose something better for next week. :D

Homework (High School)

At the beginning of this year I thought High School was easy! But not really now...

It is super hard now because I have way more homework, the teachers are worse (I don't know how to explain that well), and well it's just in general harder. I miss the teachers from eighth and seventh grade they were nice! I still have some nice teachers but they always give lots of homework and I mean all of them, last year only a few teachers would give lots of work! Now, every night I have tons of homework and tests to study for! I am so afraid of failing all my classes. Teachers tell us that these are the years that count and to work hard but they really aren't helping us any with all the homework, tests, and stress.

I better stop now because I could go on forever and I also have homework. :(

Thanksgiving (I know it's still far away!)

:) My favorite character in Kung Fu Panda is the turtle! :D

Anyway, todays topic is Thanksgiving!

Alright so I know that most people only like Thanksgiving because it's a no school/work day and there's lots of food! Some people don't really care what it means-what it symbolizes. Well, to be perfectly honest I am one of those people, I am just happy to say that there is no school and lots of food. I should care more about what this holiday symbolizes, peace and friendship (and other things)! Thanksgiving is an important day for people because it is about...(what's the word?)...collaborating. Familes and friends get together and share food with each other, they talk and laugh! Those are the best parts of Thanksgiving but when people ask us what we like most about Thanksgiving they say food or no school. I am going to try to appreciate this holiday more for what it symbolizes!

I am also going to celebrate that this will be my last Thanksgiving with braces (I hate braces!)!!!!!

The Moral of the Story is....

Note: I have moved the Hangman game to the side.

Anyway, I am going to tell all of you about a movie that I watched yesterday.

*SPOILER ALERT*

I watched Kung Fu Panda, it was a movie about a panda bear that wanted to learn kung fu. This movie, while being stupid and slightly corny, had a good point. Anyway so this panda tries to learn kung fu but no one believes in him and people are constantly telling him he is bad in some way. After a while he starts to get good when someone finally believes in him and gives him a chance. In the end he is the only hope for defeating this bad guy and when he does he finally gets the respect he wanted.

So basically what I am trying to say is that this panda worked really hard and over came a lot of obstacles but in the end all his hard work paid off. The moral of this is that you should never give up!!!

Appreciation

I have decided to go with a lighter topic today, especially after the one last week.

Everyday I come home and try to get all my homework done fast, so I can watch TV or do something else along those lines. Already you can see that I take for granted the fact that I have a home and a TV. I should stop to consider all the people that don't have a home and live without electricity because there are a lot of people who don't have these luxuries I take for granted. I also never appreciate the work my mom does and I always complain about the chores I have to do, like clean my room, walk the dog, and empty the dishwasher. My mom goes to work at 4 or 5 (sometimes later) in the morning at a retail store, where she works her hardest for me and my brother. She works so that she can bring money home for everything that I take for granted. I don't ever stop to thank her for her hard work, when I should. Everyone does good things for each other [sometimes] and they deserve at least a "thanks" out of it.

So everyone should say "thanks" a little more often!

Couple charged for the near-starvation of a 14 year old

King 5 News: http://www.king5.com/topstories/stories/NW_102608INVK-starving-girl-details-DS.151bfb674.html

When I read this I was horrified. I couldn't believe that anyone could be so vile, I mean starving a 14 year old girl! In the article it states: "The girl reports it was so bad, her stepmother would watch her brush her teeth to make sure she didn't swallow extra water. And because the faucet was loud, she'd sneak drinks from the toilet." That is just horrible for anyone to have to live in circumstances like those, thankfully she is away from them now. I can't believe that couple did that but the part that makes me angry is that the most time they will get in jail is about 36 to 48 months in prison. That girl faced a serious injustice and all the time those horrible people have to spend in jail is 48 months at the most. That is just outrageous, they deserve far worse in my opinion!

Part of the Railing on the Viaduct Falls

As reported on King 5 news, part of the railing on the viaduct was knocked down by a pick-up. This 20 ft section of railing was knocked down to the lower level, thankfully it didn't hit anyone. This incident occurred right after an inspection that closed the viaduct. I think that something like this shouldn't happen right after an inspection, they should have seen the potential for such an occurrence.

King County To Cut 400 Jobs

400 jobs are going to be cut in King County because of a budget shortfall of about $93 million.
Where did this come from- $93 million...I had no clue it was that bad.
But I have heard something about Chris Gregoire having to due with a huge bugdet deficit. I have no idea what that has to do with it- honestly probably nothing to due with this at all but may as well mention it when talking about money issues.
Comment on this and what you think happened.

Stock Market

Another plummet, big surprise. As if no one expected this.
We may as well just call this the Second Great Depression, we all know that it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. It just isn't right that I, as well as everyone else in my generation, am going to have to try to find a job, buy a house, and buy a car in a recovering economy. But then the older generations are going to have issues with their retirement funds. But that's life.
I sure hope the next president has some helpful ideas for saving the country. What a bad time to be voted into the office, though, now they have to clean up all this mess.

Who else thinks this is going to end up being the Second Great Depression?

$700 billion Bailout Rejected (Approved on Wednesday, October 10th)

If you have not heard of the $700 Billion Bailout plan check out this news article. http://www.nwcn.com/topstories/stories/NW_092908BUB_financial_bailout_mon_LJ.c30361e2.html
I would like to know your opinion, are you glad the Congress rejected the bailout plan or are you mad at them for rejecting it? Share your opinion, feel free to explain why you think what you think.

In my opinion it is good and bad. First off, it is bad because I don't think our tax dollars should go to the banks just to fix their mistakes (lending too much on top of other things). Also, it is good because the banks do need the money and if not us who else, the stock markets are also collapsing without this bailout plan. I think that something must be done but apparently it isn't going to be our tax dollars doing the job. I wish them luck thinking of a way to save the banks.

Who for President?

Who do you think should be the President of the United States, Obama or McCain?

Please explain why you picked that person, be it McCain or Obama.

My Opinion:

I think that Obama should be the President because he seems to understand what he is saying (I'm watching the Presidential Debate on CBS) and he cares about the people; he wants to make a change.
